A family affair.
My name is Erin and I am the owner/founder of Penny Lane Confections Ltd. I was a baker from a young age before attending Culinary Arts School. My career has spanned 4 decades in one capacity or another. From baking for my family to running the pastry department in fine dinning restaurants.
Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, my dad would take me to our favorite coffee shop in town, Penny Lane. We would sit for hours and watch people while I drank hot cocoa sitting in a hollowed out tree throne. This was one of the most magical times in my life. As I got older I would spend my teenage years there as it evolved from a small one room coffee house to a large coffee house and eventually moved to the other side of Pearl Street.
When my son was born I made sure to expose him to the wonderful craziness of Penny Lane. He didn’t get to experience it as much as I did because unfortunately Penny Lane had to permanently close it’s doors in 2005 thereby closing an important chapter in many of our lives.
With the passing of my son in 2020 and my dad’s passing in 2024 I decided I needed to honor them by opening my own business where a portion of sales go to help people. They are the most kind and giving souls I know so I was positive this is what they would want. I decided it is important to help those who struggle with addiction and their day to day battle to stay clean and sober. A portion of all sales goes to that cause.
Penny Lane Confections sounded like the perfect name because my son and dad were huge Beatles fans and Penny Lane reminds me of a simpler time when the two most important men in my life were still here with me. I hope I can make them proud by bringing magic into peoples lives the best way I know how.
